Lowe's of Easton was our partner during this exciting build. Union Baptist Church of Easton graciously hosted our Inter-faith Prayer and Music Service and many local faith organizations participated in Building on Faith Week.
The afternoon shift paused for celebration after the Home was successfully disassembled and placed into the container and truck donated by Paris Foods Corporation of Trappe, MD. To see an action shot at the build, click here.

Golf for the Gulf is a Huge Success! Thanks to Stacie McGinnes and her mighty team of volunteers, the 1st Golf for the Gulf tournament at Blue Heron Golf Course in Stevensville, MD on July 15 was a resounding success. 64 golfers enjoyed pleasant weather while swinging their clubs instead of hammers to help raise funds (approximately $4,300) and awareness for HFHTC's Operation Home Delivery (OHD) effort to build a House in a Box, here in our community, for a needy family in the hurricane devastated area along the Gulf Coast. Our affiliate has raised over $15,000 toward this campaign and which is above and beyond our every day efforts to accrue funds and engage volunteers to help needy families right here in Talbot County. These funds helped us build a "House in a Box" during Building on Faith Week September 11th-17th, 2006. The Golf for the Gulf Committee would like to thank all of the individuals, local businesses and the Blue Heron Golf Course staff for making this event possible! Habitat Welcomes Summer Interns Habitat for Humanity of Talbot County was extremely fortunate to have two College students, Caitlin Clark (from Washington & Lee University in VA) and Ashley Thomas (from Spelman College in GA) working with our affiliate as part of the Shepherd Poverty Alliance this past summer. Tom Shepherd, a generous benefactor to Washington & Lee University made the original gift to begin the Shepherd Program for the Interdisciplinary Study of Poverty and Human Capacity at W&L in 1997. The internship program is a prestigious prong of the Shepherd Alliance Program.
The alliance signifies the importance of partnership with Berea College (KY), Morehouse College (GA), Spelman College, Washington & Lee University and the Bonner Foundation to allow college students from these institutions the opportunity to immerse themselves in a new community while helping a particular non-profit. Caitlin and Ashley were chosen and assigned to our affiliate after a rigorous application process. Their tasks are centered around involvement with and program development for our Homeowners and Partner Families. Susan D. Devlin, Executive Director of Habitat was grateful for the opportunity to work with the Shepherd Interns. "Ashley and Caitlin dedicated significant time and energy to the improvement of our programs for Homeowners and Partner Families. They helped us to reach out to the families we serve in a more effective manner. I can already sense the positive impact they have had on our affiliate in the short and long term. Hopefully, this opportunity positively impacted them as well." Thanks Caitlin and Ashley!!

Houses from the Heart "Gimme Shelter" Auction December 2005 Habitat Volunteer Reception December 2005 A crowd of Habitat volunteers and partners enjoyed a festive get together in December at the Avalon Theatre. It was an evening of good food and fellowship in honor of the many people who help HFHTC in its mission to eliminate substandard housing in our county. Larry Neviaser took the stage and briefly mentioned past accomplishments and then spoke of future challenges which will require continued involvement and assistance from individuals, foundations, local business, community organizations, local government and faith-based organizations. The first recipient of the Founders' Award, Peggy Neviaser, was named. Congratulations, Peggy! Many thanks to the anonymous Habitat supporter who made a contribution to cover the costs of the event! HabiFest 2005 - To help Habitat, not only by increasing awareness with students, but to help on building projects, Easton High School was a member of Habitat International's HabiFest 2005. Easton High Schools morning announcements featured poverty housing facts, as well as a display case about Habitat for Humanitys work as part of HabiFest. Habitat Night at the Crab Claw - We raised over $5,000 during the last two Habitat Nights in 2003 and 2005!
